Scholarship Information
The Adventure Safety Conference offers partial scholarships to support participation from professionals who may otherwise face financial barriers.
These scholarships are intended to promote diversity, inclusion and accessibility within the adventure, travel, experiential and outdoor communities. Applicants must submit a brief statement of need and professional background.
Scholarships are limited and awarded based on availability and eligibility.

Pre- and Post-Conference Opportunities
Foundations of Adventure Safety
The Foundations of Adventure Safety training is a 16-hour, in-person course that provides essential skills and knowledge for managing risks in adventure programs.
The two-day classroom-based training is designed for managers of outdoor, experiential or travel programs that have adventurous components.
The course introduces a theoretical model of incident causation and prevention, the Risk Domains model and addresses practices that administrators can take to develop a high-quality safety management system to eliminate and reduce risks.
Course topics include adventure safety standards, legal considerations, managing participants, staff training, medical screening, incident reporting, emergency planning and more.
The class is immersive and engaging, and includes presentations, readings, case studies, role-play scenarios and small group discussions.
Registration for pre- and post-conference courses is now open. Conference registration is not required.

Adventure Safety Leadership
The Adventure Safety Leadership training is a 16-hour, in-person course for instructors, trip leaders, guides, camp counselors, facilitators, field staff and other leaders of outdoor, travel, experiential and adventure activities.
The training helps those responsible for leading adventure activities understand how they can reduce risks and improve safety outcomes with the groups they work with and the adventurous activities they lead.
The class covers topics included in ISO 21102—Adventure tourism—Leaders—Personnel competence.
The class is highly participatory and experiential, with scenarios, case study analysis, and group discussions mixed with presentations and readings.

Attendee cancellations for the Adventure Safety Conference are subject to the following fees:
- A USD 25 cancellation fee will apply to cancellation requests submitted on or before September 17, 2027.
- A USD 150 cancellation fee will apply to cancellation requests submitted on or after September 18, 2027.
No-shows are not eligible for a refund.
Cancellation requests must be submitted in writing. Phone cancellations are not accepted.

Minors
The minimum age to register for the Adventure Safety Conference and associated professional development events is 18 years. Individuals under the age of 18 may not register for or attend conference sessions, workshops or official conference activities.
Use of Images in Adventure Safety Conference Publications
Registration for the Adventure Safety Conference grants Viristar full rights and permission to use photographs, video and audio recordings captured during the conference. These materials may be used by Viristar and its representatives and agents for educational, training and promotional purposes, including use in publications, marketing materials and digital platforms.
